Phil is a volunteer with the Nashville Humane Association where he assists with the socialization of animals in an effort to get them adopted into permanent homes. His hobbies include arena football, collecting autographs, and older country music.

Phil currently serves as the State Director for Mrs, Miss, and Teen International Pageants. He is a certified judge with the Miss America Organization and has judged local, preliminary, and national pageants throughout the United States. Locally, he has served as an Interview Coach to numerous contestants in a variety of pageant systems.
